| With a start size of 6cm, a pre grinding step is required. We used our Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I for pre grinding. Afterwards, the desired amount of sample can be ground with a Planetary Mono Mill PULVERISETTE 6 classic line and bowls of 250ml. |

Optional, crushing jaws can be equipped in e.g. stainless steel, manganese steel, zirconium oxide,…
With gap position 4, sample can be ground very fast. Pieces up to 2,5cm can be found afterwards.
After the total amount of sample has been ground this way, sample will be fed a second time with smallest gap setting (position 1 – see result 2).
In total, we are guessing that a grinding in two steps (as shown), will save a bit of time.

After pre grinding in result 1 to < 2,5cm, about 36g as desired have been fed a second time with smallest gap position.
After 5 seconds, the 36g of sample have been ground to < 9mm. Jaws use to be free of residue. A grinding of higher amounts should be possible without any problems.
Sample will be fine ground in result 3.

Higher amounts of sample might get pre ground in gap position 1 with our Jaw crusher and complete sample < 9mm should be divided with e.g. Rotary Cone Sample Divider LABORETTE 27 (with ratio 1:8 or 1:10). Afterwards, sampling will be much more precise and reproducible.
Even higher amounts of sample can be ground in one bowl of 250ml volume.
After 2 minutes of grinding, fineness has been checked with our Vibratory Sieve Shaker ANALYSETTE 3 Pro by sieving out an aliquot. All sample got ground to < 150µm as desired. Longer grinding time is still possible to achieve a better endfineness.
