FRITSCH workshops: individual and practical

Our workshops for sample preparation and particle sizing

Take advantage of the direct exchange with our experts. During the theoretical part you gain subject-specific insights into milling, sieving and particle sizing, as well as valuable tips which ease your work. In the hands-on part you will experience FRITSCH instruments live. Bring your own samples which you can comminute or measure.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR PARTICIPATION!

Workshops 2026

  • Berlin, Germany / 02.06.2026

In cooperation with LECO and Sartorius, FRITSCH will conduct the workshop Good analysis results through perfect sample preparation at the LECO European Application and Technology Center.

In the part of the seminar led by Fritsch, we will deepen our understanding of modern sample preparation, grinding technologies and the best methods for achieving reliable and reproducible results:

    • Why representative sampling is crucial

    • How randomisation and homogenisation help to minimise errors

    • The basics of comminution• How material properties (hardness, brittleness, ductility) influence mill selection • Comparison of grinding materials (agate, ZrO₂, Si₃N₄, Al₂O₃, WC, stainless steel)

    • Understanding abrasion, contamination risks and mechanical properties

    • Bead size, vessel volume, rotational speed, grinding time

    • Useful rules of thumb

    • Limits of safe operation, temperature control and overpressure relief mechanisms

    • Operational safety (handling liquid nitrogen, reactive or temperature-sensitive materials)

Fritsch Workshop 2026 – LECO Corporation

  • Herlev, Denmark / 08.10.2026

    Contents of the workshop:

Annual particle analysis workshop Fritsch,  they will share their expertise & broad knowledge, you will get professional answers to questions concerning sample comminution & particle size analysis. You can test Fritsch lab instruments during the hands-on part of the workshop. So bring your own samples and we will assess answer the following questions together:

Do you know the particle size of your material?
Do you master the art of isolating the representative sample?
Can sieving be replaced by using a particle size analyzer?
How do you break down your material in an automatic and uniform way?

Webinar on demand

Measurement of particle size distribution using laser diffraction
In this webinar, Dr. Günther Crolly will provide a general introduction to the technology of particle size measurement using the example of laser diffraction. In addition to the underlying physical theory, instrumental aspects as well as the preparation and treatment of the sample material are discussed. The importance of the result curves and differences in the comparison of different measuring methods are also deliberated on.
