With this pre grinding step, the high amount of sample can be reduced in size rapidly to < 8 mm. With up to 10 cm long pieces, we recommend using a Jaw Crusher Model II.

After 90 seconds, the majority of sample amount has been ground to < 8 mm. Only a few particles use to be up to 10 mm long.

Grinding chamber is free of residues, even higher amounts of sample can be ground. Cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.

To achieve a representative sample for fine grinding, we recommend using the Vibratory Feeder LABORETTE 24 and Rotary Cone Sample Divider LABORETTE 27 afterwards.

After 15 minutes of grinding, the fineness has been checked with our Laser Particle Sizer ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus. Already 95 % of sample are < 64 µm; d50 is < 15,4 µm.

To achieve a d50 < 50 µm, probably 5-10 minutes of grinding might be fulfilling.

Much faster results can be achieved with a planetary mill. Also a Vibrating Cup Mill PULVERISETTE 9 should be faster in grinding too.
