The grinding with 3mm balls got the better results (see 2a).

After 30min. grinding time d50 < 1,7µm , d90 < 6,7µm ; on Mess. No. 6584.

After 60min. grinding time d50 < 1,5µm , d90 < 6,0µm; on Mess. No. 6597.

For finer fineness the balls must be exchanged (see 2b).

After 180min. grinding time d50 < 0,4µm , d90 < 1,1µm ; on Mess. No. 6713.

We haven’t got the right values of refraction index and absorption coefficient for this kind of glass. A calculation by mie-theory might lead to higher finenesses.
